Arrive into Adelaide and make your way to your accommodation. Recently voted a Top 10 City to Visit in 2014 by Lonely Planet, Adelaide is noted for its many festivals, its food, wine and culture and its fantastic beaches. The city also has impressive shopping, restaurants and cafes to enjoy so get out and about and discover some of the great 'Eat Streets'. Overnight Adelaide.
This morning you'll be picked up from your accommodation by Heading Bush Tours and transferred to the stunning Yorke Peninsula. Along the way you will see incredible diversity; from coastal mangroves to one of the richest farming areas in Australia. This morning, the group will be joined by one the local aboriginal people and taken on a 2 hour journey of enlightenment. Enjoy a walk along a coastal pathway to the Ochre Cliffs and discover coloured clays that have been used in aboriginal ceremonies for thousands of years. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the historic township of Minlaton before transferring to the clear blue waters of Spencer Gulf. Tonight, enjoy a wholesome meal and have an opportunity to sample some the regions fabulous local seafood. Overnight Yorke Peninsula.
Today, enjoy a full day exploring the beauty of Innes National Park - the spectacular and wild coastline of Southern Yorke Peninsula. With its soaring cliffs and magnificent views over Kangaroo Island, this National Park is a photographers dream! Walk, swim and explore un-trodden beaches and come face-to-face with the abundant wildlife. Take a short walk to admire the operating lighthouses at Cape Spencer and West Cape. At the end of the day capture a magical South Aussie sunset, relax around the campfire and be tempted with some of South Australia’s seafood delicacies. Overnight Yorke Peninsula.
Enjoy a stroll along the spectacular coastline of Spencer Gulf, look for dolphins in the surf or the rare Hooded Plover. Grab a fishing rod (provided) and try the great Australian experience of beach fishing for the sought after King George Whiting or as an optional extra, join our local expert instructor for a surf lesson. In the winter months this coastline is often visited by Southern Right Whales and they can be seen from a number of vantage points that you will be taken to. After a relaxing morning of fishing and wildlife, you will visit the Barley Stacks Winery, the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established on the traditional barley belt of the Yorke Peninsula. Taste and enjoy the local produce before heading back to the top of the peninsula for a short relaxing trip back to Adelaide. Overnight Adelaide.
Depart Adelaide and enjoy a scenic coach trip through Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis to board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute journey across Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island. On arrival in Penneshaw meet your local Driver/Guide. First stop is Rob's Shearing, before heading to Pennington Bay. Continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia, and visit stunning Seal Bay where you will get up close to a wild breeding colony of rare Australian Sea-lions. Explore the huge white sand dunes at Little Sahara, and test your skills at sand boarding before heading to Vivonne Bay Lodge. At camp there are complimentary activities to keep you occupied and you may like to spend some free time kayaking on the Harriet River before and after your BBQ meal. Relax around the fire (only in winter months) or kick back on the deck with a glass of local wine before retiring to the comfort of your bed. Overnight Kangaroo Island.
After breakfast, get up close to more wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where you will look for koalas nestled up in the eucalypts and see kangaroos grazing on the open fields. Continue onto Flinders Chase National Park and Remarkable Rocks; huge granite boulders sculptured by nature. Enjoy the spectacular coast and seascapes as you head around to Admirals Arch at Cape Du Couedic to watch the resident New Zealand fur seals frolic in the ocean or sunbake on the rocks. Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, and then head to the beautiful and secluded ‘secret’ beach of Stokes Bay and take a walk at Ironstone Hill (time permitting) to find wallabies and admire the spectacular view back to the mainland. If time and weather permit, several stops may be made en route to Penneshaw, allowing time to purchase dinner (own expense) before the return journey to Adelaide. Overnight Adelaide.
