Itinerary

1

Arrive Adelaide and make your way to your accommodation. Enjoy the day exploring Adelaide city at leisure. Known as the 20 minute city you'll soon find that it's easy to get around, and with free buses, trams and bike hire around the city centre you can simply hop on and off at many of the main attractions. Shopoholics shouldn't miss Rundle Mall and the adjoining Rundle Street, or catch the tram to the beachside suburb of Glenelg for fantastic beachfront dining. Overnight Adelaide.

2

This morning you'll be picked up from accommodation to commence your Flinders Ranges & Outback Safari. You'll travel north via the historic coastal town of Port Germein to Mount Remarkable National Park. Here you'll enjoy lunch surrounded by 600 million year old mountain peaks and an abundance of native Australian wildlife. After lunch, continue north through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass, to the historic township of Quorn (the start of the original Ghan Railway). From Quorn you'll head out to Warren Gorge Conservation Park to search for the rare and elusive Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby. Enjoy a hearty meal and a good night’s sleep in the natural setting of Rawnsley Park Station at Wilpena Pound. Overnight Wilpena Pound.

3

Wake up to the calls of native birdlife and enjoy your breakfast with a morning view of South Australia's iconic Wilpena Pound (also known to the local Aboriginal people as Ikara). Today you'll explore the unique area that surrounds the Pound, visiting the famous Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges (also called the corridors through time) and viewing some of the oldest rock formations and fossils in the world. After a delicious picnic lunch enjoy the afternoon spotting wildlife including Kangaroos, Emus and the bold Wedge Tailed Eagles which are prolific in this rugged area. In late afternoon, travel back to Rawnsley Park via the spectacular Moralana Scenic track following the south western wall of Wilpena Pound. Settle down under millions of stars and enjoy your dinner at the camp. Overnight Wilpena Pound.

4

Today your journey takes you south through the magnificent Southern Flinders Ranges with its spectacular Red Gum lined creeks to Melrose, the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. Check out the historic buildings including popular Bluey Blundstone's Blacksmith Shop. On your way back to Adelaide you will have the opportunity to experience one of the best wine regions in South Australia - the Clare Valley. Here you can have a taste of the fine local wines and produce before being dropped back at your accommodation in Adelaide this evening. Overnight Adelaide.

5

This morning, depart Adelaide and enjoy a scenic coach trip through Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis and board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute journey to Kangaroo Island. On arrival in Penneshaw meet your local Driver/Guide. First stop is Rob's Shearing, before heading to Pennington Bay. Continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia, and visit stunning Seal Bay where you will get up close to a wild breeding colony of rare Australian Sea-lions. Explore the huge white sand dunes at Little Sahara, and test your skills at sand boarding before heading to Vivonne Bay Lodge, where you will have the opportunity to spend some free time kayaking on the Harriet River, swimming at Vivonne Bay Beach, taking a self-guided walk, trail bike riding or simply relax. Enjoy a BBQ dinner and a glass of local wine before retiring to the comfort of your bed. Overnight Kangaroo Island.

6

After breakfast, you'll get up-close to more wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where you can look for koalas nestled up in the eucalypts and see kangaroos grazing on the open fields. Continue onto Flinders Chase National Park and Remarkable Rocks for some fantastic photographic opportunities. Enjoy the spectacular coast and seascapes as you head around to Admirals Arch at Cape Du Couedic to watch the resident New Zealand fur seals frolic in the ocean or sunbake on the rocks. Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, before heading to the beautiful and secluded ‘secret’ beach of Stokes Bay to find wallabies and admire the spectacular view back to the mainland. If time and weather permit, several stops may be made en route to Penneshaw, allowing time to purchase dinner (own expense) before the return journey to Adelaide. Overnight Adelaide.
