Houseboating

If you’ve ever dreamt of captaining your own houseboat, steering it down a mighty river with your friends and family along for the ride, then a Murray River houseboat holiday is the perfect plan.

Unforgettable Houseboats have 10 boats in their fleet (from 2 to 12 berths), so there is a boat to suit everyone’s holiday requirements. Whether cooking a meal on the BBQ or in the gourmet kitchen, relaxing in the jacuzzi or watching the stars from the top deck, these “floating baches” exceed all expectations.

First-time hirers are often amazed at how easy a houseboat is to handle and, believe it or not, all you need is a standard driver’s license. If you’d like to add a little more action to your houseboating holiday, Unforgettable Houseboats can organise golf, waterskiing, kayaking, wine tasting tours to the Barossa, or a nocturnal wildlife expedition. And for that special treat, book a private chef to come onboard and let someone else do the cooking.

Escorted River Cruising

Escorted cruises range from two to seven nights and allow you to experience the Murray with the help of onboard experts.

More than 100 years ago, paddle wheelers cruised the length of the Murray River transporting supplies. You can replicate their journey on the historic PS Murray Princess paddle-wheeler, which offers a unique nature-based adventure past mallee scrub and ancient red gum forests, through towering gorges and sheer limestone cliffs. On their three, four and seven-night cruises you’ll visit historic ports and lush vineyards as the captain navigates the Murray’s locks and river bends.

The Proud Mary departs all year round and offers highly regarded two and five-night nature cruises with a maximum of 40 passengers. If time is short, the weekly lunch cruises give you a taste of life cruising this magnificent River.

For those wanting to experience the Murray River but who prefer to stay in on-shore accommodation, the Murray River Run offers a range of cruises along almost the whole 2500km length of the river, from five to eight days. Offering a different style of cruising with overnight accommodation in comfortable ensuite riverside hotels/motels and purpose built cruise boats, the Murray River Run provides a relaxed, friendly, and diverse range of cruising experiences.
